Pequest River De-snagging

After severe flooding of agricultural land in Great Meadows during the early '50s, the townships of Allamuchy, Independence and Liberty have participated in a partnership with the District since 1954.  Fallen trees are cleared from the Pequest River to prevent blockage of the river's flow. In 2009 twenty nine snags were removed. Care is taken to insure against disturbance to the banks and that cover is left to keep the water temperature cool for the fish population.
